Established in 1999, Hospital Art Australia is dedicated to providing free-of-charge, colour-coded outline designs, paints, easels and supervisory assistance to long-stay patients and residents in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Rehabilitation units in Sydney, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Cowra, the Central Coast, NSW and the Sunshine Coast, QLD.

We aim to provide therapeutic, recreational and occupational opportunities to those in medical care, whilst offering a real, enjoyable and displayable product.

Volunteers and artists compose the outline designs which are then colour-coded and delivered to the medical facility. After the patient completes the painting, the canvases are returned to the volunteers for final outlining, and then they are returned to the facility for display.

They are a source of pride, a topic of conversation, and a colourful, attractive addition to the hospital facilities' decor.

July 2009 saw the tenth anniversary of Hospital Art Australia Inc. During that period over 13,000 paintings have been painted by residents of nursing homes, hostels and other locations and returned to the facilities where they were painted or sent to other hospitals and hung, enhancing their surroundings with art and bringing joy to many people. Over the years we have supplied paintings to fifteen of the major hospitals in NSW.

The only way that HAA can continue is due to having such a great group of volunteers. We encourage anyone interested in joining to contact us.
